Police in Kigoma are holding a resident of Mwandiga village for allegedly raping two primary school girls aged 13 and 15 years.
Both teenagers are pupils of Kamchele Primary school Mtui in standard four and five, said Kigoma Regional Police Commander Ferdinand Mtui. The RPC also confirmed the arrest of the suspect, saying police are holding the man pending further investigation ahead of arraigning him to court.
Mtui explained that the suspect lured the two teenagers into his vehicle as the two girls walked home after school earlier this month.
“He offered them a lift in his car and they accepted,” the RPC explained, warning teenagers not to talk to strangers. “But instead of taking them home, he parked along the road and raped them,” he alleged.
The RPC said then the suspect drove the girls to their home village, Mahembe and that is when the girls started shouting that they had been raped.
