MEDIA ADVISORY! AFRICA PULSE LAUNCH ON MONDAY APRIL 13, 2015 AT THE WORLD BANK OFFICE VIA VIDEO CONFERENCE

World Bank Press Briefing on the latest
Africa Economic Update

APRIL 9, 2015Sub-Saharan Africa’s growth will slow in 2015 to 4.0 percent from 4.5 percent in 2014, according to World Bank projections. This downturn largely reflects the fall in oil prices and other key commodities in the Region.

The slowing GDP forecast represents the first time that Africa is expected to post a growth rate below the 4.4 percent annual average growth rate of the past two decades; short of the average peak growth rates of 6.4 percent in 2002-2006.

Please join Mr. Francisco Ferreira, Chief Economist for the Africa Region and Ms. Punam Chuhan-Pole, Lead Economist in the Africa Region for a discussion on Africa’s recent economic progress and future challenges in sustaining Africa’s economic growth in a changing global environment.
