OVER 100,000 JOBS CREATED IN THREE MONTHS

Employment rate in the country has grown in the past three months with at least 139,361 new jobs created in both the public and private sectors.

 
Speaking to journalists in Dar es Salaam on Monday Information Officer in Ministry of Labor and Employment Ridhiwani Wema said that the employments were created between July and September this year.
 
 “The jobs created include 3,657 employments from the government which is equivalent to 2.6% while 135,704 were offered by the private sector which is 97.4% of the increased job availabilities,” he said.
 
He explained that employment rate in the private sector has been growing steadily between 2011 and 2012 corresponding to the growth of the economy.
 
 “In 2011 to 2012 a total of 250 678 employments were created and the economy grew at 6.4% while in 2012 to 2013, a total of 274,030 employments were created while the economic growth was 6.7 per cent,” he said.
 
“In   2013 to 2014, 408,756 employments have been produced and the economic growth is 7.0%.,” he added.
 
Wema also noted that in 2014 to 2015 a total of 560,000 employments were created in the private sector and “this shows that the employments opportunities are increasing in the country” he said.
 
He added that in 2013 to 2014 the private sector, the big employer, offered a total of 408,756 employment opportunities thanks to growing private investments.
 
Wema mentioned the private investment to include , small and medium enterprises which offered  7,192 jobs  representing 1.6% of jobs created, investment through SEZ and EPZ  offered 26,381 jobs representing 6% of job offers.
 
Also, investment through TIC which produced 149,594 employments equal to 34.2% of jobs created, the communication sector created   about 13,619 employments equal to 3.1% and other sectors combined produced 240,147 employments equal to 55% of jobs created this year.
